I’m Jack Levy.
I work in infrastructure and automation with a deep virtualization background. I like systems that are repeatable, observable, and boring in production — and I use my homelab as the place to test ideas before I trust them.
What I do
- Virtualization & platform work (VMware-focused): design, operations, upgrades, and reliability
- Automation: turning multi-step procedures into scripts and repeatable workflows
- Self-hosting: building practical services at home with security boundaries and backups
- Documentation: writing things down so the next time is faster and less error-prone
What this site is
This site is split into a few parts, each with a purpose:
- Projects (portfolio/case studies): what I built, why I built it, and what I learned
https://jackhlevy.com/projects/ - Resume: the structured “traditional” view
https://jackhlevy.com/resume/ - Docs: longer-form technical notes + writing projects (Unobtopia + other work)
https://docs.jackhlevy.com/ - Blog: the running log — updates, lessons learned, and writeups that don’t fit neatly into a case study
Current interests
- Building a clean “web stack” for publishing: landing page + blog + docs
- Improving repeatability through templates, scripts, and conventions
- Homelab reliability: backups, change control, and “don’t break the house” guardrails
- Writing and publishing long-form work alongside technical projects
